LG Energy Solutions Plant Development in Queen Creek

  • Location & Construction Status:
    • Situated at Ironwood Road and Pecos Road, Queen Creek.
    • Construction of the LG Energy Solutions plant is well underway, with completion of the roof and 85% of the factory building’s concrete work as of December.
  • Project Details:
    • The plant will produce cylindrical batteries for electric vehicles.
    • Phase one represents a $3.8 billion investment by LG Energy Solutions.
    • Projected to employ 2,800 workers.
  • Progress & Plans:
    • Construction reached the halfway mark in April.
    • Plans for initial sample production by mid-2026 and full commercial production by end of 2026.
    • Temporary pause in development of phase two in July 2024, but other phases are proceeding.

    • A new workforce training center has been established under Arizona’s Future48 Workforce Accelerator program.
    • The training center is a collaboration with the Arizona Commerce Authority, Pinal County, and Central Arizona College.
  • Historical Context:
    • The area was designated as an employment district in 2008 and incorporated into Queen Creek after the annexation of 4,100 acres of state trust land in 2019.
    • LG purchased 320 acres in 2022, with an option for an additional 320 acres.
